From Highway 50: Take the Howe Avenue/Power Inn Road exit. Head North on Howe (South puts you on Power Inn). At the Swarthmore signal light turn right (there is a turn pocket).**
From Business 80: take the Cal Expo exit east. Cal Expo Blvd turns into Arden Way. Stay in the right-hand lane and turn right on Howe Avenue. Travel south past Fair Oaks Blvd and American River drive. The next signal is Swarthmore turn left.**
**this takes you into an office parking lot—you are not lost. Turn left at the yield sign, follow the road towards the tennis courts (watch out for the speed bumps) and park anywhere on the left side nearest the tennis courts. The clubhouse is down a small walkway through the black gate.
CoCo's Restaurant, our alternate meeting place, is located at: 1830 Arden Way, Sacramento, California 95815. The phone number is (916) 922-6741
Our meetings include a short business session followed by a workshop and/or lecture (approximately 1-1/2 hours), followed by lunch.
We encourage everyone to RSVP for our meetings by the Wednesday before. It’s a very simple process and our Events Coordinator is more than happy to take your information and answer your questions. Having an accurate count for our meetings aids with set-up and planning, so please help us and RSVP as early as possible.
Can't stay for lunch or not interested in eating the meal as provided? You are welcome to attend the informational portion of the meeting only. You are also welcome to bring your own lunch. Reservations must still be made, however, and you will be expected to pay the full meeting fee. Please inform our Events Coordinator of your plans not to stay for lunch or to bring your own meal.
NOTE TO SVR MEMBERS:
Walk-ins will be charged a $5 fee. Cancellations made before Wednesday are not subject to payment of meeting fee. Cancellations made after Wednesday will be charged the meeting fee at the next meeting they attend if and only if a walk-in or late reservation DOES NOT take their place. Failure to pay for the missed meeting jeopardizes your “good member” standing.
*Please note that the Holiday Tea and Readers Luncheon do not constitute “regular” meetings so they do not count as one of the two meetings for guests.
Annual 3-Page Read: A favorite of SVR members, this annual tradition is where SVR members may submit the first 3 pages of a WIP (work in progress) for a group (positive!) critique.
Readers' Appreciation Luncheon: This annual event is fast becoming one of our most popular.
Holiday Tea and Literacy Fundraiser: We’re proud to say that at the 2006 December Tea, SVR raised over $1,000 to be donated to literacy. This silent auction is competitive shopping at its best and every penny goes to a worthy cause: literacy.
Three-Day Retreat: This event began nearly 6 years ago and has become one of the most anticipated events every other year.
